What is Once Upon a Quest?

Targeted at children ages 5 to 11, Once Upon a Quest is an app that posing learning as an adventure, featuring built-in break times, real-life outside exploration, an interactive buddy avatar that answers questions, and more! With Once Upon a Quest, children embark on quests that feed their curiosity and learn new concepts. We aim to tackle and remove the fear and anxiety of making mistakes, instead encouraging children to be guided by their curiosity and be motivated to learn.

The Origin

“Once upon a time…”

Once Upon a Quest was inspired by the magical stories that enrapture children, recreating these fantasy adventures to motivate them and make learning an incredible experience. We give children the option to customize and embark on their own quests to build self-efficacy, expand their decision-making skills, and increase their confidence, allowing them to grow and set forth on their own real-life adventures.

Concept Video

Once Upon a Quest aims to help children discover their own potential and interests through interactive and engaging adventures. The concept video follows a young child of age 5 who is initially emotionally withdrawn, acting up when trying to do schoolwork. Slowly, through the help of Once Upon a Quest, the child opens up, becoming more confident in themselves and embarking on their own journey inspired by their own curiosity.

Demo Video

For the demo video, we created a concise walkthrough of our high-fi prototype that showcases Once Upon A Quest's key features and user tasks. The video highlights how users accomplish important actions and goes through our task flows, showing the value and functionality of our solution.
